Our veterinarians

Dr. Matthew Browning, DVM

Dr. Matthew Browning knew he wanted to be a veterinarian from the first time he heard of the occupation as a child.  He has worked with animals in one manner or another since the age of 16.  Dr. Browning completed his undergrad studies in chemistry at Virginia Tech (go Hokies!) before continuing on to graduate as a veterinarian from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995.  He has been a part of North Suffolk Animal Clinic for 8 years.  What does Dr. Browning love about being a veterinarian?  He has the privilege and honor every day to be able to partner with wonderful people to care for their furry family members, whether it be guiding those with new puppies or supporting those saying goodbye.
Dr. Browning has two cats at home, Rita and Charlie, as well as a dog named Willie.  Dr. Browning has a special talent unknown to most.  He can whistle in cows from the field!  One summer he was part of a project with The USDA milking 30 cows.   By the end of the project, he could whistle for the cows, and they would come right to him.  Dr. Browning is a proud swim dad and also enjoys martial arts.  After studying martial arts for 10 years, he is still in awe of Bruce Lee!  Why?  Because it is Bruce Lee.

Dr. Ariel Koger, DVM

North Suffolk Animal Clinic had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Ariel Koger to the family in June of 2016.  Carrying on the Hokie tradition that Dr. Browning and Dr. Gallahorn have laid out before her, Dr. Koger is also a graduate of the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech.  A native of the Hampton Roads area and a graduate of Western Branch High School, Dr. Koger is pleased to return to the area in which her parents reside, accompanied by her husband and her two dogs, Ralph and Ruby.  Ralph is a spunky and smart dachshund/terrier mix.  He and Dr. Koger have shared a special bond ever since she adopted him when he was surrendered to an animal control facility by his previous owner.  Ruby (also known as a trouble maker at times) is a dachshund/Shih Tzu mix.  She sticks to Ralph like glue ever since falling in love with him from the moment she joined the family.  One of the things Dr. Koger enjoys about veterinary medicine is that each day is a new and exciting experience.  You have to expect the unexpected, and you get to see things as different from one another as vaccines to surgery, and more.   No matter what the situation is, Dr. Koger strives to remain positive with any challenge she may face.  When Dr. Koger has free time, she enjoys reading a good book, hiking, cheering on the Hokies at football games, and training to run her first half marathon.

Dr. Stephanie Blanchard, DVM

Dr. Stephanie Blanchard joined the NSAC family in the Spring of 2020 after graduating from Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech (another Hokie!).  She has been in the veterinary industry since she began working as a vet assistant when she was just 16 years old.  Dr. Blanchard moved here from Damascus, Maryland with her two furry companions Tucker and Zoey.  Together they enjoy kayaking and finding new hiking trails to explore.  Dr. Blanchard looks forward to providing care for the pets of NSAC and is especially looking forward to surgery and dentistry.  When you can’t find her on the trails with her dogs or here at the clinic, you can probably catch her enjoying her next favorite thing- a burrito bowl from Chipotle!

Willie

“Dogtor” Williford Cleatus Monroe Jr., aka Willie, is a graduate of Barklee University in Wooftown, Catifornia.  At North Suffolk, he specializes in educating others of the physiological benefits of napping.   In his spare time, Willie enjoys yoga and has mastered the downward dog position.  Recently, Willie has begun taking country line dance lessons and loves showing off his “four step”.  His favorite food is cheese frosted cookies.   Willie loves to give kisses to everyone, and he gladly accepts butt scratches in return.  Willie loves when he gets to have sleepovers at Aunt Val’s house or go for car rides.  Willie’s hero of all time is none other than Scooby Doo!  He looks up to him, because he can communicate with humans, solve mysteries, and he gets lots of Scooby snacks.
(Disclaimer:  Willie is not a veterinarian and does not treat any patients nor provide any medical services)
